We recently spent a few days at the cottage again, and we were lucky enough to enjoy dry, sunny weather. This photo of the sunrise was captured around 6:15AM from the terrace, offering a serene view of the Gareloch. A single boat gently bobbed on the water, adding to the peaceful atmosphere.

We have some wonderful news to share with everyone—our recent guests got engaged on our terrace! They left this lovely feedback in our Guest Book, and we were truly touched that they chose Gareloch Cottage as the perfect spot for such a special moment.
They also left this 5* review for us:
"We had the most amazing weekend in this beautiful home! We even got engaged on the balcony at sunset! We loved the decor and cosiness, everywhere was spotlessly clean and we couldn't of asked for more. We had a lovely meal at the restaurant down the road on their Mexican theme night which we'd definitely recommend. Thank you Jo for being a fantastic host and doing everything possible to make sure we had a memorable time".
How fabulous is that? We wish the couple every happiness!

We really enjoyed our morning croissants and fresh coffee out on the terrace, brewed in our Lavazza machine back in the kitchen. The terrace gets plenty of sun first thing in the morning, and surprisingly, it was quite warm.

After breakfast, we took a short drive over to walk along the Peninsula at Rosneath Caravan Park. It's open to non-residents with free parking, and at this time of year, it’s wonderfully quiet, so you often have the beach all to yourself. The views across the water are stunning, with Helensburgh visible in the distance.

There was a lone canoe sailor on the water, clearly making the most of the great weather and perfect conditions. You can just about spot him in the red boat in the above photo.

After a refreshing walk, it was time to get to work at the cottage—this time, we tackled repainting the back garden boundary wall, a task we do every few months. We always take care of a few maintenance jobs to stay on top of things, ensuring the cottage looks its best for all the guests coming and going.

In the afternoon (in between house jobs!) we got some more fresh air with a brisk walk up Back Road, which runs alongside Gareloch Cottage. It’s a fairly steep climb, so it’s a good workout. Along the way, there's a variety of interesting properties, each with its own unique style, and there’s usually a few friendly dog walkers out and about.

Following the winding road upwards, curving around before gently descending back toward Shore Road, we always pass by the charming cottage with its delightful blue gate. In the distance, the loch stretches out, its waters shimmering under the bright sunlight, creating a truly breath taking scene.

On our last day, we took a great photo from the top of Shore Road, offering a stunning view across the water to Garelochhead. There’s still a dusting of snow on the mountain peaks, adding to the scenery. If we were to describe our neighborhood in Argyll, this photo truly captures the essence of our surroundings.
During our stay, we also received a block of 5 new bookings for the Spring and Summer, so we're excited for another busy year ahead!
